01 / THE TREATMENT

What is
IPL photofacial?

Intense pulsed light, selected for your skin.

IPL uses pulses of filtered, broad-spectrum light to address selected pigment or vascular concerns. It is not a laser and does not treat every brown mark, red area or type of discoloration in the same way.

At Revival, the discussion includes your skin tone, sun exposure, medications and the cause of the mark. The M22 platform has different capabilities; the actual handpiece and settings must suit the intended treatment.

THE REVIVAL SKIN EDIT

How it works.

Light absorbed by a selected target.

Different filters and settings influence how light is absorbed by pigment or blood vessels. The resulting heat creates the treatment effect in the selected target.

A diagnosis matters before treating discoloration. An unexplained or changing lesion should be assessed medically, and melasma needs particular care rather than assuming more light will help.

During your appointment

  1. Assess. Review the skin concern, recent tanning and any medicines that affect light sensitivity.
  2. Protect & treat. Appropriate eye protection is used while the provider treats the planned area.
  3. Review. Follow skin-care and sun-protection guidance and assess the response before another session.

Treatment areas

Selected areas of the face, neck, chest or other sites, depending on the concern, skin type and device configuration.

Downtime & recovery

Redness, swelling or a temporary darkening of treated pigment can occur. Avoid picking and follow the instructions provided. Blistering or worsening pain needs review.

How results develop

Pigment and redness may respond on different timelines. A series may be considered, but treatment count and maintenance should follow the response and underlying cause.

A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING

Good questions.
Clearer choices.

Ask us something else
Is IPL a laser?

No. IPL uses a range of wavelengths with filters; a laser works differently.

Can it treat melasma?

Melasma needs careful assessment. Light-based treatment is not appropriate for every case and can worsen pigment in some people.

Can I have treatment with a tan?

Recent tanning changes the risk. Tell your provider about sun exposure and self-tanning products before booking.

What is recovery like after an IPL photofacial?

Redness, swelling or a temporary darkening of treated pigment can occur. Avoid picking and follow the instructions provided. Blistering or worsening pain needs review.

What will my treatment cost?

Ask Revival for the current price for your treatment area and proposed plan. We will discuss the product or device, what is included and any applicable membership terms before you choose.

What should I discuss before treatment?

Discuss medications and supplements with your Revival provider before treatment. Do not stop prescribed medication without guidance from the prescribing clinician. Burns, blistering, pigment changes, scarring and eye injury are possible. Skin tone, recent sun exposure and light-sensitizing medicines influence suitability.
