Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid; Radiesse uses calcium hydroxylapatite in a gel carrier. These different materials have distinct treatment considerations. Ask about the exact product, area and expected timeline.
Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid. Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel carrier. Product-specific instructions and the intended injection area matter; a broad “collagen stimulator” label leaves out important differences.
02 / MAKING THE DISTINCTION
Ask what the recommendation is for.
Discuss the area, the type of change being sought and why this product is preferred over another option. Ask whether the proposed use is within the product’s approved indication. A plan should explain the expected sequence without promising the same response for everyone.
THE APPROACHES, EXPLAINED
Different methods. Different roles.
These options are a starting point for a conversation. Your assessment may suggest one approach, a staged combination or a different form of care.
01 / COLLAGEN BIOSTIMULATION
Sculptra
Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid injectable used for selected facial wrinkles and contour concerns. Unlike a hyaluronic acid gel, its intended aesthetic effect develops through a tissue response over time.
Recovery to plan for
Allow for temporary swelling, bruising and tenderness. Your provider will explain aftercare and when to assess the settled appearance; an immediate photograph is not the final result.
What to expect
Changes develop gradually rather than at the moment of injection. Individual response, course and duration vary; no fixed result or treatment count is guaranteed.
Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel carrier. Depending on the product and use, it can provide a contour change and support a collagen response over time.
Recovery to plan for
Allow for temporary swelling, bruising and tenderness. Your provider will explain aftercare and when to assess the settled appearance; an immediate photograph is not the final result.
What to expect
Initial contour and later tissue response are different parts of the result. Duration varies; the material cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase.
Neither product should be treated as if it were a hyaluronic-acid filler that can simply be dissolved. Discuss lumps, inflammation, vascular complications and other product-specific risks. Tell the provider about previous injectables, including products whose names you are unsure of.
04 / MAKING THE DISTINCTION
Compare the complete commitment.
Ask for the quantity, planned reassessments and written cost for the full course under discussion. Avoid comparing only the headline price of a vial to a syringe: different units and materials do not describe equivalent treatment.
YOUR PLAN AT REVIVAL
Make the next step an informed one.
01
Understand the starting point.
Share previous procedures, reactions and the change you have in mind. Your clinician reviews your history and examines the area before recommending treatment.
02
Agree on the scope.
Ask which product or device is proposed, why it fits your goal and what alternatives exist. Confirm the number of visits, recovery arrangements and full estimate.
03
Review the response.
Allow the appropriate recovery time before judging the result. Discuss how progress will be recorded and when to review whether further treatment is worthwhile.
Understand the investment.
Compare the same treatment scope. Signature and Reserve offer preferred rates; membership fees and treatment charges are separate.
They are different measures. Compare the complete proposed treatment and its cost.
Are these the same as HA filler?
No. The materials and management considerations differ.
Is the first-day fullness the final result?
No. Early swelling and the injected fluid can affect the appearance. The intended response develops over time.
Is Radiesse a hyaluronic acid filler?
No. It uses calcium hydroxylapatite and has different properties and removal considerations.
Can it be dissolved if I change my mind?
It cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase like hyaluronic acid filler. Discuss that difference before treatment.
Can it be used everywhere?
No. Indications and appropriate areas depend on the specific product and clinical assessment.
How do Sculptra results develop?
Changes develop gradually rather than at the moment of injection. Individual response, course and duration vary; no fixed result or treatment count is guaranteed.
What will my treatment cost?
Ask Revival for the current price for your treatment area and proposed plan. We will discuss the product or device, what is included and any applicable membership terms before you choose.
How should I compare the cost of my options?
Ask for a written estimate naming the treatment, product or device, area, quantity and number of visits. Sculptra and Radiesse can have different pricing bases, so a single advertised figure may not describe the same scope. Current standard and eligible member rates are shown on the treatment pages; your provider confirms the complete plan before treatment.
